29 Jan Cimphoni Expands into Life Sciences Technologies to Develop Life-Changing Medical Devices and Solutions
Rick Davidson, President and CEO of Cimphoni, said, “We’re excited to expand our services into the life sciences sector where we can create next generation medical technologies and devices. Our capability to develop innovative medical devices is made even stronger through our business partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin.”
Cimphoni Life Sciences and the Medical College of Wisconsin are collaborating to develop medical innovations focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of both acute and chronic illnesses. Initial areas of focus include the following:
- In vivo treatment and prevention of osteoporosis
- In vivo accelerated fracture healing
- Immunochromatographic assays for the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infections
- In vivo diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infections using nano-scale technology
“Imagine the possibilities when world-class physicians and medical researchers combine their knowledge and expertise with both engineers and technology experts to drive innovation in completely new directions,” said Davidson. “The possibilities are limited only to our imaginations, and the positive impact for patients could be truly profound.”
As an example, recent advances in nano technology provide the means for nano-scale semiconductors and nano-particles to work synergistically with antibodies, either as sensors to measure the presence of antigens or as drug delivery mechanisms to treat cancer and mitigate the effects of certain pathogens.
