Three Wisconsin companies raised $7.87 million in venture capital during the third quarter, surpassing the total raised in the second quarter as well as in the same period a year ago.
Through three quarters, Wisconsin companies have raised $13.87 million, well below the $38.78 million that had been raised through the third quarter of 2008, according to the MoneyTree Report, released Tuesday by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association.
Venture capitalists nationally invested $4.8 billion in 637 deals in the third quarter, an increase over the amount raised in the second quarter. The increase was driven by funding of businesses in the clean tech sector.
