09 Sep Fifty Midwest hospitals launch health exchange
In what could be seen as a precursor to a National Health Information Exchange, HealthBridge, a regional HIE in Cincinnati, has teamed up with the Indiana Health Information Exchange in Indianapolis and HealthLinc in Bloomington, Ind., to begin sharing secure clinical test results, discharge summaries and other medical data from patients seeking healthcare from physicians and hospitals in different regions.
The arrangement, officially announced today, marks the first time that medical information has been shared among, rather than within, regional HIEs in the United States, according to the HIE’s principals.
