14 Aug Cyber doctors bring health care to rural areas
UnitedHealthcare recently partnered with California-based Cisco to build the first national telehealth network known as Connected Care.
According to Jeff Nohl, president of AmeriChoice Wisconsin, the program focuses on using state-of-the-art video technology along with UnitedHealthcare’s national physician network, to expand the reach of those physicians to underserved, rural and urban communities.
“The mobile clinic is just one aspect of the program,” said Andrew Felrice, program director said. “The technology in the mobile clinic could be placed in permanent locations within rural or urban communities, senior centers, or even a work place. The possibilities of the technology moving forward are endless.”
