30 Jun IBM Cloud takes shape for businesses
Twenty months after partnering with Google to deliver cloud computing to universities, IBM is pushing into the business market in a bigger way with new products and services for on-demand, self-service IT capabilities. IBM is introducing “purpose built” cloud appliances, new public cloud services, and consulting and integration services to help companies build internal and hybrid computing clouds.
IBM is positioning the new offerings, which it calls its Smart Business line, as a bold new computing model, one akin to the e-business wave of the 1990s and the rise of the PC before that. IBM estimates that the cloud computing market is on track to grow to $66 billion by 2012.
