Fears of paycuts, layoffs and mergers — Ravi Gupta has seen it all before.
Before starting his own environmental consulting business 10 years ago, Gupta was the local manager for an international firm riddled with rumors of financial turmoil and internal politics.
The company closed his office shortly after he left, leaving his 18 former colleagues jobless.
Looking back, Gupta — who this month was named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New Jersey Small Business Person of the Year — says the experience taught him a few secrets to success.
