07 May Electronic recycling bill gains ground in Wisconsin Legislature
Two weeks ago, the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity marked Earth Day by holding an electronic recycling fundraiser at its ReStore in Appleton.
Organizers couldn’t have predicted the six-hour event would yield 84 tons of recycling material, everything from televisions to phones.
“I don’t know that there are any TVs left in the Valley to recycle,” said Amy Ristow, the organization’s associate director, on Tuesday.
The fundraiser was a bust, as Habitat only raised $49 for an event that required help from 50 volunteers, but what it did prove is that there is an abundance of material out there in need of somewhere to go.
