GE launches $6B health care initiative

Building on its four-year-old environmental effort, ecomagination, General Electric Co. is launching a $6 billion health care initiative focused on improving health care for more people at reduced cost.
GE officials said the initiative, dubbed “healthymagination,” is expected to result in the creation of low-cost health care products that can be offered in rural and underserved regions of the world, where quality health care can be difficult to obtain. It is also designed to reduce the company’s own health care costs for employees and expand profitability for the GE Healthcare business, which has an operation in North Greenbush.
