AT&T applies cell-phone model to netbooks

AT&T said Wednesday that it will begin selling subsidized netbooks on a trial basis in both Atlanta and Philadelphia. If a user buys a both a Wi-Fi and a 3G data plan, the netbook can be purchased for as little as $49.99, AT&T said.
The plan includes the choice of the Acer Aspire One, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12, and LG Xenia netbooks. AT&T did not indicate the prices for each individual netbook, stating only that they will range from $49.99 to $249.99, with the purchase of the two-year data plan contracts.
AT&T will also offer the Lenovo X200 for a subsidized price: $749.99 with Internet at Home and On the Go. The laptop is available for $849.99 with a two-year DataConnect plan only, AT&T said.
