TrafficCast to Provide Traffic Data for TomTom’s GO 740 LIVE

Dynaflow™ 2.0 combines TrafficCast’s flow information with Westwood One Metro Traffic’s real-time incident data for industry’s most advanced traffic information system
LAS VEGAS and MADISONTrafficCast International Inc., a leading provider of digital traffic data and travel time forecasting, today announced that it will be the provider of real-time traffic data for TomTom’s GO 740 LIVE connected portable navigation device in the United States.
Dynaflow™ 2.0 is the industry’s latest and most advanced road speed data and information system and includes TrafficCast’s flow information and Metro Traffic’s real-time incident data. Metro Traffic, a Westwood One Company, is the leading producer of broadcast traffic information in the United States.
Building on Dynaflow 1.0 released in 2007, Dynaflow 2.0 provides the real-time road speed that is being used by TomTom, and also has the capability to forecast 48 hours in advance in over 100 markets in the USA covering the expressways and major arterials. Dynaflow 2.0 calculates real-time road speeds based on road conditions and incident reports from Westwood One’s Metro Traffic, as well as public sensors, weather, construction and local events modeled against real-time global positioning system (GPS) tracking data reported from millions of data points every day.
TrafficCast’s real-time road speed data will be combined with near real-time GPS data from TomTom’s GO 740 LIVE devices to present users with up-to-the-minute traffic speed and incident reports. TomTom’s GO 740 LIVE combines the industry’s best routing with automatic delivery of helpful features including TomTom Fuel Price Service, Local Search powered by Google, TomTom Weather and QuickGPSfix™, as well as real-time traffic information from TrafficCast and TomTom.
Taking advantage of the bandwidth and personalization made possible by cellular connectivity, the TomTom GO 740 LIVE wirelessly receives real-time traffic speed and incident reports every minute. Traffic delays can be heard audibly on the device as well as displayed on the screen. The device may suggest alternate routes based on its knowledge of traffic conditions. Drive time minutes saved and the new arrival time are displayed on the screen.
“The TomTom GO 740 LIVE sets a new standard for the navigation industry and will dramatically change the way navigation devices are used,” said Éric Pité, TomTom Vice President, Product Management. “To help drivers get to their destination in the fastest and most efficient way, it was critical that the GO 740 LIVE have the most reliable and accurate reports of road speeds and conditions.”
“TomTom is the world’s leading navigation solutions provider. The introduction of the GO 740 LIVE underscores TomTom’s leading innovation, as connected devices are a critical evolutionary step for personal navigation devices,” said Neal Campbell, CEO of TrafficCast. “Connectivity puts a premium on accuracy and reliability of road speeds and road conditions. We are delighted that TomTom has chosen Dynaflow 2.0’s accurate and actionable traffic data for the GO 740 LIVE.”
