15 Mar Mickelson treated for heat exhaustion at CA Championship

Welcome the latest installment of Global Fusion. This edition is different from my regular columns, but because so many in the technology community golf enthusiasts, I though I would share some of my experiences this week.
My first posting follows the successful Fusion CEO – CIO Symposium produced by WTN Media and coincides with a trip to Florida to escape the last weeks of winter, to defrost and get some much-needed rest. I thought I would be “internet free “or take an e-mail vacation. I wrote a column in 2005 on “Taking an e-Mail vacation” and did not listen to my own advise.

While here, I had the opportunity to attend Saturday’s third round of the CA Championship and watch as Tiger Woods played an awesome third round after falling behind after a less usual Wood’s performance in rounds one and two. Woods has just resumed golfing after recovering from knee surgery. Yesterday’s weather was hot and humid with clear skies.
World Golf Championship leader Phil Mickelson is playing with the upcoming youth golf sensation Nick Watney, age 27, and they are tied for the lead going into today’s round.
However, last night Mickelson was treated in a Doral, Florida urgent care center for what the attending physician called “heat exhaustion and mild dehydration.” Mickelson, the CA Championsip co-leader after three rounds, was lethargic after play Saturday and his conditioned deteriorated rapidly, according to a statement by the PGA Tour.
At 9 p.m. he was admitted to Baptist Medical Plaza at Doral where he received two bags of IV solution.
Tied for the lead at 16 under par, Mickelson and Nick Watney are scheduled to play at 1:45 CDT this afternoon. Each has won once already this season, Mickelson at the Northern Trust Open, Watney at the Buick Invitational.¨
Coming soon on Global Fusion and WTN News will pictures from yesterday’s third round.
