Police Plan To Hold More Community Meetings
MADISON, Wis. — Local police on Tuesday educated residents about safety on social networking Web sites like Facebook and MySpace.com at a first-of-its-kind community meeting.
Police said they want people to know that technology is changing everyday and it’s important for parents and teachers to understand what children are doing online and on their cell phones.
At the community session Tuesday night, Madison police explained how social networking sites work and the dangers to look out for. Police also discussed text messaging and the Internet.
Police said that the more parents are aware of the technology, the less likely children will fall victim to things like identity theft or worse.
