Wausau hospital may be impacted by president's directive on stem cell research

Lifting restrictions on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research will directly affect research facilities like UW Hospital in Madison.
Although Aspirus Wausau Hospital is not involved in stem cell research a hospital official says this directive could impact patients here in North Central Wisconsin.
Frank Losinski, is a Medical Social Worker and the Chairperson of the Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s Bio Ethics Committee.
The committee helps advise families as to what treatments are right for them.
Losinski says researchers are hoping to increase the types of treatment options available for patients.
Because stem cells can be changed into any cell in your body, researchers are very optimistic.
