20 Feb Eau Claire Area celebrates National Entrepreneurship Week
When National Entrepreneurship Week takes place next week (Feb. 21-28), Eau Claire Area schools will be doing their part.
The theme for the national celebration is “Entrepreneurship EMPOWERS Everyone” and nationally the week’s focus is on young innovators.
Students in Advanced Marketing at Altoona High School will be experiencing first hand the complexities of market research as they are the test market for a new product.
“During a one week time frame, my students will determine if there is a market for this new product,” said Altoona High School marketing instructor, Robert Burgraff.
Students will determine profit possibilities, offer consumer opinions, and evaluate an appropriate price for the product. At the end of the week-long test, students will determine if the “Altoona Depot”, the School Based Enterprise, should continue to carry the product.
Seventh grade students at Altoona Middle School will also be exploring their entrepreneurship possibilities in another of Burgraff’s classes.
“I try to run different short-run businesses and have the various classes compete, as they do in many episodes of The Apprentice,” Burgraff said.
This will be the first time that Burgraff has done a research project like this with his 7th grade entrepreneurship class.
