California firm acquires Mequon's Simulation Technology

Mequon, Wis.AWR Corp., a California-based developer of high-frequency electronic design automation, has acquired Simulation Technology and Applied Research, a Mequon software firm.
AWR, headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., said it chose the Mequon company after spending much of 2008 evaluating similar businesses. It was looking to meet customer demand for an integrated finite element (FEM) and electromagnetic (EM) technology tool.
Simulation Technology develops software used to simulate and analyze electrical components and subsystems that operate at radio and microwave frequencies. Its software has been developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense and it has been used to analyze complex RF and microwave structures at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, and the Naval Research Laboratory.
AWR said it would retain Simulation Technology operations in Wisconsin under company founder John DeFord.
