Entrepreneurism on (and off) campus is topic of Nov. 20 WIN-Northeast meeting

Staff from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Office of Corporate Relations will speak about university efforts to build a statewide entrepreneurial culture at the Thursday, Nov. 20, meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Appleton.
The event will be held at the D.J. Bordini Center, 5 Systems Drive, near the Fox Valley Technical College campus in Appleton. Registration and networking begin at 4:45 p.m. The cost is $5 for WIN members, $10 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships.
Catalyzing entrepreneurship on the UW-Madison campus and extending that culture statewide can help build Wisconsin’s high-growth economy.  Doug Bradley, assistant director, marketing and communications, for the Office of Corporate Relations, will discuss a mix of resources and workshops available to help entrepreneurs, inventors and investors make the connections they need to form and grow successful new business enterprises.
“The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation singled out UW-Madison for a major grant to promote entrepreneurism, and the results can already be seen,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council and WIN. “In addition, the success of campus entrepreneurial programs, such as the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship, the Burrill Business Plan Contest and the Master’s in Biotechnology program, are good barometers of progress.”
The Office of Corporate Relations serves as the swinging door to university resources for business and industry. It provides services to companies for recruiting UW-Madison graduates and interns; accessing faculty and staff expertise; licensing technology; and fostering entrepreneurship. The office deals with hundreds of companies statewide and beyond.
