05 Apr Guard and Reserve honors Fiserv
Brookfield, Wis. – Fiserv, a provider of information technology services to the financial industry, has won an “Above and Beyond Award” from the Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency.
The award recognizes employers who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for employees who serve in the military.
Sergeant Major Raymond Stitz of the 3rd Army Area Support Group in Qatar, a Fiserv employee for 13 years, nominated Fiserv for the support he received on two deployments to the Middle East. One deployment to Kuwait lasted 18 months in 2005-2006, and his current deployment in Qatar ends in January 2009.
Fiserv, founded in 1984, instituted a new practice when the Iraq War began to secure the jobs of employees who were members of the National Guard and Reserve.
In 1994, Congress passed and then President Clinton signed the Uniform Service Employment and Rights Reemployment Act to protect the jobs and benefits of service men and women.
