DNASTAR expands software distribution network in China

Madison, Wis. – Acknowledging that China is an emerging biotechnology powerhouse, DNASTAR, a Madison-based bioinformatics software company, has entered a software distribution agreement with BGI LifeTech, a molecular biology products distributor based in Beijing, PR China.
Under terms of the agreement, BGI LifeTech will have rights to sell DNASTAR’s software products – including the Lasergene sequence analysis software suite, the SeqMan genome assembler, and GenVision, a data visualization software application – in the Peoples Republic of China and Hong Kong.
BGI LifeTech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Beijing Genomics Institute, distributes products throughout China. Bob Steinhauser, director of sales and marketing for DNASTAR, said the company needs a strong distribution partner to be part of the Chinese sequencing and microarray markets.
