16 Jan Guild.com announces new CEO
Madison, Wis. – The Guild, an online marketplace for artwork, announced Wednesday the appointment of Lisa Bayne to the position of chief executive officer. Bayne will directly oversee all aspects of marketing and merchandising.
A member of the board since November 2006, Bayne was a consultant for the development of The Guild’s consumer brand “The Artful Home.” Her credentials include former chief marketing officer for the J. Jill group and senior vice president of marketing for Smith & Hawken.
Former CEO and founder Toni Sikes will remain on the board and retain the duties of public spokesperson and artistic advisor. Michael Baum, president since 2004, will assume the position of chief operating officer.
Scott Potter, chairman of The Guild’s board of directors, said in a statement that the appointment will help the company further develop on a national scale. The Guild received a $7 million venture-capital investment in 2006 and has announced an additional round of financing from existing backers. The unspecified amount of capital will help the company extend the reach of its consumer marketing by expanding it website.
