20 Nov Merge to introduce new “teleradiology” tool
Milwaukee, Wis. – Merge Healthcare, a financially troubled medical imaging software provider, plans to introduce a new “teleradiology” software application in the first quarter of 2008.
The product, called Merge TeleRead, in combination with the consulting service Consult PreReads, is designed to provide another level of quality control and assuredness for the official, final diagnostic report before it is sent from an American radiologist to a referring physician.
With the combined products, the report would include references to prior studies, relevant patient clinical information, and measurements of pathology and associated images. With products and process factored in, the medical imaging study has been triple-read before it goes back to the referring physician.
Merge will demonstrate the software and the service at the Radiological Society of North America’s annual conference in Chicago.
