Industry report shows medical tech pays big in Wisconsin

A report released by the Advanced Medical Technology Association found that Wisconsin is one of four states in which medical technology jobs pay more than 50 percent above the average statewide salary.
The report also found that nationwide, the medical technology industry employed 357,700 people, paid $21.5 billion in salaries, and shipped $123 billion in products. In Wisconsin, the mean medical technology industry salary was $49,400, compared to $32,000 for jobs overall.
The report was prepared by the Lewin Group, a health care and human services consulting firm. The Advanced Medical Technology Association is a lobbying group that serves medical technology firms. According to its 2006 annual report, its members produce nearly 90 percent of the health care technology purchased annually in the United States.
