21 Aug Platypus Technologies launches new research tool
Madison, Wis. – As expected, Platypus Technologies officially has launched a new research tool, the Oris cell migration assay, that is expected to compete in the $35 million national cell migration market.
The assay, which will be used by researchers performing cell-based assays, is one of several products under development at Platypus. The company, which is seeking about $5 million in venture capital, helps researchers study chemical reactions with the help of nano-structured surfaces – a reference to nanotechnology, the control of matter at the molecular level.
Cell migration is considered critical to a variety of bodily processes, including tumor cell metastasis, wound healing, the development of new blood vessels, and tissue regeneration.
