Accelerate Madison to merge with Telecommunications Professionals

Madison, Wis. – The Madison Chapter of the Telecommunications Professionals of Wisconsin is consolidating its membership with Accelerate Madison, a networking and business support organization focused on information technology issues.
The organization said the partnership “reflects the increasingly blurred line between the telecommunications sector and the information technology sector across operations in companies of all sizes and in every sector of the regional, national and world economy.”
Beverly Lindquist, assistant VP of information systems for Wisconsin Public Power, Inc. said in a release that the joining of forces “represents a good strategic move that will allow us to capitalize on the strengths of both organizations in a way that will benefit our combined membership and community.”
Accelerate Madison will incorporate more than 50 members and three new board members from TPW-Madison including Lindquist; Suzanne Godfrey, sales training manager, Norlight Telecommunications; and Coleen Slattery, national accounts manager, North American Communications Resource, Inc.
“All participants will now benefit from a more diverse set of backgrounds and experiences at the networking and educational events hosted by our organization,” said Jan Moen, executive director of Accelerate Madison.
Accelerate Madison produces events intended to address nationally relevant topics including several that are open to the general public. On Nov. 2, the group will produce a conference at the Overture Center about how technology can help create retailing businesses. The event will feature Michael Smith, president and CEO of Bag Borrow or Steal, an online company analogous to Netflix that rents handbags instead of DVDs.
