26 Oct TeraMedica to install oncology IT
Milwaukee, Wis. – TeraMedica Healthcare Technology, a Milwaukee-based medical informatics company, has partnered with the University of California-Davis Cancer Center in Sacramento to install its Evercore oncology information management technology.
The agreement adds UC-Davis experts to TeraMedica’s oncology advisory board to help the company’s cancer treatment product development.
The Evercore technology comes with oncology-specific electronic medical record technology from IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., a healthcare IT company in the Elekta Group.
TeraMedica said the technology improves the management of the image-guided radiation therapy process by bringing together information from a diverse range of equipment. Typically, that equipment is run by different operating systems in a centralized data repository.
Dr. James Purdy, director of radiation oncology physics for UC-Davis, said in a release that the university has many disparate systems in its radiation therapy department, and needed a software program that would “solve the data storage and transfer problems we face in the radiation oncology realm.”
Purdy also indicated the system would accommodate further refinement of UC-Davis’ image-guided radiation therapy workflow, and set the stage for the development of a discovery database that will improve the university’s cancer research programs.
UC-Davis is the only academic medical center in its region of California.
