12 Apr Schmidt rejoins Renaissance Learning
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. — After a brief hiatus, Steven A. Schmidt has rejoined Renaissance Learning, Inc., as president and chief operating officer, effective April 26.
Schmidt, 51, left the Wisconsin Rapids-based education software developer in January to pursue another opportunity. He had served as executive vice president and senior vice president of administration and operations, and now will succeed founder Terrance D. Paul as president. Paul, who will continue to serve as the company’s chief executive officer, has temporarily served in place of former president and CEO John Hickey, who resigned.
Renaissance Learning, which reported $116.3 million in sales and $24.8 million in net income in 2005, is a provider of computerized assessment and progress monitoring tools for pre-K-12 schools and districts. The company has seven U.S. locations and subsidiaries in Australia, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom. Its technology has been adopted by more than 67,000 North American schools.
