Driver registration computers still make for long waits

Wisconsin drivers are still facing waits of 10 weeks to get vehicle titles and license plates – more than twice the time it took before the Division of Motor Vehicles installed a new computer system a year ago. That’s only the average wait. Some are waiting months.
Work on the $35.6 million computer system was begun in the early 1990s. It replaced a setup that had been in place since the 1970s and was supposed to be more efficient. But the DMV has been behind on processing titles and plates ever since the new system was installed.
