Group promoting classified research elects officers

The Wisconsin Security Research Consortium held an organizational meeting last week to name its leadership. The group will try to bring classified research to Wisconsin institutions.
Tom Hefty, former co-chairman of the Governor’s Economic Growth Council, is president of the board of directors. He is now with law firm Reinhart, Boerner and Van Deuren.
Paul Peercy, dean of the UW-Madison College of Engineering, was made vice president, and Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council, is secretary. The Wisconsin Technology Council formally launched the consortium this fall. Linda Bunnell, chancellor of UW-Stevens Point, is treasurer.
The group has already been named for a $500,000 grant in a congressional appropriations bill last month, slated for 2006.
