New Dane County airport links to Atlanta announced

Madison, Wis. –Madison’s technology community will soon be linked twice daily to 11,000 tech firms that employ 180,000 people; the Dane County Regional Airport will be adding nonstop morning and evening flights to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Dec. 1.
“Atlanta is home to the federal Centers for Disease Control, Georgia Institute of Technology and literally thousands of IT and life sciences companies. Our technologists, researchers and business leaders will benefit from quicker connections to Atlanta and the southeast United States,” said Tom Still Wisconsin Technology Council president.
Many technology companies’ headquarters are located in Atlanta: BellSouth, EMS Technologies, Intel, George Pacific Corp., Unisys, and Spectrum Brands, many of which have strong connections to Wisconsin. Georgia Tech and Emory University’s research institutions and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention call Atlanta home, as well.
The addition of twice-daily nonstop flights to Atlanta is the third of the Dane County Regional Airport’s improvements in its connection to technology meccas this year. Flights to Washington D.C. and the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Texas were added in spring.
