Alfalight introduces new 25-watt pump module

Madison, Wis.Alfalight, Inc., announced the release of its next generation Combined Power Module II laser, available in two configurations for delivery in September.
The CPM-II is available with 25 watts of output power and a 200-micron (0.22 NA) output fiber for fiber laser applications. A version with 21 watts in a 6+1:1 pump/signal configuration (with 5/125 micron signal/pump fiber) is also available for fiber amplifier and LIDAR systems.
The pump system utilizes an integrated temperature controller to deliver precise wavelength stabilization. The 4.5x7x1-inch module utilizes thermoelectrically-cooled fiber-coupled laser diodes. The solution requires only a low-cost, fixed-voltage supply to drive the temperature control and a laser current supply.
Company vice president of sales and marketing Ron Bechtold said in a company release that the CPM-II would solve several problems encountered by fiber laser and high-fidelity amplifier designers by incorporating wavelength control, advanced protection circuitry and higher output power.
