Emerging technology companies receive significant funding

Good news for some of Madison’s emerging technology companies as they received significant funding this past week. These investments and grants will help to accelerate the growth of these high tech firms. Alfalight, a UW-Madison spinout company that manufacturers high-powered laser devices, announced that they have received nearly $6 million in military funding. Meanwhile, another UW-spinout eMetagen announced that it had received over $500,000 from the Marquette University Golden Angels Network. On Friday, Bellbrook Labs, also based in Madison announced it had been awarded an $180,000 federal grant from the National Cancer Institute to develop tests that will enable drug companies to speed development cancer treatments that will have fewer side effects.
