28 Jul Three state tech firms win state growth funds
Madison, Wis. – Gov Jim Doyle on Thursday announced that three Wisconsin businesses would receive funding for technology development projects from the Department of Commerce Technology Assistance Grant (TAG) and Technology Venture Fund (TVF) Programs.
The projects are as follows:
• Functional Biosciences, Inc., is a Madison company established in 2003 to provide DNA sequencing. It will receive a $250,000 TVF loan for work necessary to commercialize its proprietary DNA sequencing services. The total project cost is $1.6 million.
• The NeuronFarm, LLC, is a Madison company established in 2001 to develop web-based applications to improve reading comprehension. It will receive a $15,000 TAG to hire professional services to assist in its efforts to obtain early-stage funding.
• ConjuGon, Inc., is a Madison company established in 2001 to develop a new way to kill harmful bacteria. It will receive a $15,000 TAG to hire professional grant research and writing assistance.
The TVF program provides low-interest loans to Wisconsin high-tech companies with fewer than 100 employees that are seeking angel or other seed capital investment to facilitate the capital search.
The TAG Program provides grants of up to $15,000 to early-stage Wisconsin high-tech companies to offset costs of hiring qualified independent parties to perform professional services.
