Tech Digest: President to honor WARF; plus, Governor's tech-transfer award for entrepreneurs

Madison, Wis. — The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the patenting and licensing arm of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be among the recipients of the 2003 National Medal of Technology on March 15 at a White House ceremony. The annual award is conferred by the president and recognizes “outstanding contributions to the Nation’s economic, environmental and social well-being through the development and commercialization of technology products, processes and concepts; technological innovation; and development of the Nation’s technological manpower.”
Madison, Wis. — Governor Jim Doyle is looking for a small business that commercializes a big idea, and will give out a $5,000 award at the Entrepreneur’s Conference on June 7 and 8 for outstanding achievement in technology transfer. Nominations are due by March 21 to the Center for Technology Transfer, which is co-sponsoring the award with the Department of Commerce.
