Wisconsin and Minnesota students will get a one-of-a-kind experience today when they make a very big conference call to the International Space Station Expedition 10 crew.
The event will be held from 10:40 to 11 a.m. EST today at Crossroads Elementary School, St. Paul, Minn. The event includes a video downlink with Station Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov. Nearly 700 students in grades 3 through 8 are expected to participate.
The students represent four area NASA Explorer Schools: Cumberland Middle School, Cumberland, Wis.; Crossroads Elementary School, St. Paul; Farnsworth Aerospace Elementary Magnet School, St. Paul; and Bryn-Mawr Elementary and Anwatin Middle School, Minneapolis, which are partnering as one NASA Explorer School.
The activity supports NASA’s efforts to encourage students to study and possibly pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
