05 Jan Online matchmaking comes to the boardroom
Madison, Wis. — A Web site connecting companies with potential members of their boards of directors is set to launch later this month.
Candela Solutions, LLC, and Michael Best and Friedrich, LLP, are co-sponsoring DirectorConnector, which has started signing up companies and people and will add free search features.
“The non-profit community has typically been ahead of the curve on this,” said Ronald Kral, a founding partner with Candela. “But there was nothing in the nation to cater to the business community.”
The site is being positioned as an alternative to fee-based matchmaking services involving headhunters or other consultants. The site will be free to both companies and potential board members, Kral said, and would seek sponsorships to break even. Fee-based services could be added down the road if there is a demand.
The partners are focusing their initial efforts on attracting users from south-central Wisconsin, though anyone can sign up. Kral said they had no plans to screen candidates.
Both companies and board candidates can sign up at the site now, though the planned search tool is not yet in place. Kral is encouraging people to sign up in advance so that a range of opportunities will be available from the start. Full functionality is planned for sometime later in January.
