22 Sep Seagate adopts Imago's nanotech microscope
MADISON, Wis. — Mass storage vendor Seagate Technology is using nanotechnology from Madison-based Imago Scientific Instruments to meet the manufacturing challenges of building advanced hard drives.
Imago announced Tuesday that Seagate has adopted Imago’s LEAP Microscope to provide analytical tool for the development of advanced thin film magnetic heads and media.
According to the company, The LEAP Microscope has proven successful in solving a variety of issues facing manufacturers of high-performance devices such as the analysis of buried interfaces and grain boundaries. Imago technology ties compositional information to structure allowing manufacturers to shorten time to market, enhance product yields and maximize capital equipment utilization.
