Five Wisconsin CIOs named top in nation

Madison, Wis. — Five Wisconsin chief information officers have made it onto CIO magazine‘s “Agile 100,” because of their ability to react quickly to rapidly changing situations and environments while positively contributing to their own organizations’ development of new growth opportunities.
The CIOs for Manpower, CUNA Mutual, Foley & Lardner, Schneider National and Lands’ End were all among the magazine’s top 100.
The recipients of the 2004 CIO 100 awards were announced in CIO’s Aug. 15 issue. The CIO 100 recipients are selected based on the following criteria: competence, creativity, leadership and accomplishment in the information technology field.
“The theme of the CIO 100 changes from year to year, based on what we believe companies need to be successful, given the current state of the economy,” said Abbie Lundberg, editor in chief of CIO. “This year, with the economy rebounding, organizations need to shift gears and start thinking about growth and new opportunities. At the same time, given continuing uncertainties, they need to be prepared for anything. In short, they need to be agile, able to respond quickly and appropriately, no matter what threats or opportunities come their way.”
The CIO 100 represents a wide range of industries, non-profit organizations and governmental bodies. As members of the Agile 100, these organizations have demonstrated agile operations, innovative usage of technology and creative staffing models.
The CIO 100 Awards will be presented at CIO magazine’s sixth annual CIO 100 symposium awards ceremony, to be held Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
