Sonic Foundry announces new Mediasite products

MADISON – Sonic Foundry Inc. has introduced two new AV-ready Mediasite products designed to record and distribute rich media for a variety of uses. The new products, evolved from Sonic Foundry’s existing real-time, rich media technology, are intended to enable customers to record and distribute rich media content needed for corporate communications, Web-based education, online training, product marketing and other related applications.
Mediasite VL400, is the first multi-channel recorder for video conferencing applications. It instantly captures and synchronizes audio, video as well as all graphics and visuals – including annotations – presented during two-way video conferences. The VL400 allows conferences to be burned to CD and Web cast.
The other product, Mediasite RL400 builds upon Sonic Foundry’s Web presentation system previously known as Mediasite Live. The system provides dual-channel, real-time processing and a simplified user interface. The rack-mountable RL400 allows users to capture presentations without a backend server connection. The product also features a variety of enhancements including: control systems interoperability, rapid record, server-free recording mode, VersaVisual for capturing multi-source, multi-format media, real-time technology, the ability to publish to Flash, enhanced security management and user reporting and tracking.
“During the past year, we learned that customers want a real-time recorder with enhanced performance and flexibility to time-shift their business and education presentations,” said James Dias, vice president of marketing and sales for Sonic Foundry. “They also asked us to better integrate this recording capability into their presentation and video conferencing systems and infrastructure. This emphasis on rapid capture, flexible delivery and AV integration has led us to develop a new family of media devices that further simplify and streamline the use experience and workflow, while also breaking new ground in the video conferencing arena.”
Mediasite RL400 and Mediasite VL400 can be ordered directly from Sonic Foundry or through its resellers and systems integrators located throughout North America starting in July. The products are expected to ship in September. The popular mobile presentation recorder, Mediasite ML which began shipping in fall 2003, also is available.
