API health care software rolled out on WellStar computers

Hartford, Wis. – What does it take to make a payroll and personnel tracker specifically for health care? API Software just announced it has taken its tracking systems, originally generic, and made them into a health care-specific package for WellStar Health System in Georgia. WellStar plans to use the application to manage 10,000 people in five hospitals, a setting that poses some unusual challenges.
“Our initial HR system was not health care specific, and it simply could not meet the needs of our health care environment, such as managing employee information for workers floating across multiple hospitals and keeping up with licensing and credentialing requirements,” said Sally Eckford, WellStar’s enterprise project manager.
API’s Navigator software maintains an employee database with demographic, payroll and benefits information that can track people through the hiring process as well as their jobs. API also makes several other packages geared toward scheduling and other aspects of management and tracking.
For a hospital or health care organization, that could mean a way to prove that patients are being treated the way they should be across the board and that workers are distributed well across the system.
WellStar has scheduled pilot departments to begin using API’s scheduling software in August.
