01 Jun Johnson Controls adopts new software to analyze text reports
MILWAUKEE – Johnson Controls, a supplier of automotive systems and facility management controls, has started using new analytic software to examine its processes. Jim Hayes, the company’s delivery systems manager, said Johnson chose a package from Intelligenxia, Inc., a Florida-based company that wrote its Analytic Freedom software to search unstructured text for valuable data.
The software automatically categorizes words and phrases and looks for patterns in data such as surveys and customer calls and e-mails.
It uses statistical analysis to determine what words are probably related to each other – for example, “store,” “str” or “stor,” and look at the relationships between particular entities and descriptions. The underlying technology is called unstructured text analysis.
