01 Mar Firstlogic releases new postal service software
La Crosse, Wis. — Firstlogic, Inc. announced the general availability of Postalsoft Business Edition version 7.40 last Tuesday. Postalsoft Business Edition is designed to help organizations manage and personalize marketing lists and prepare mail in the necessary order and format to receive postal discounts from the United States Postal Service.
The program includes features designed to decrease processing times and increase mail piece effectiveness. Postalsoft Business Edition also offers a number of new data management capabilities, including intelligent importing, a feature designed to recognize data elements as they are imported into the system.
The intelligent importing capabilities automatically place incoming data elements into the correct fields for processing, even if data are fielded inconsistently. Postalsoft Business Edition examines the data, identifies individual data elements and places them in the proper fields for that record. For example, if a record’s “city” field contained both city and state information, or the “address” field contained name information, the program would parse apart the information and place it in the correct fields.
In addition, Firstlogic’s release allows for comprehensive gender assignment and personalization by assigning genders to mailing list names. By adding prefixes like “Ms.” “Mrs.” and “Mr.,” and creating proper salutations, Postalsoft Business Edition users can target mailings at a specific gender.
Postalsoft Business Edition also offers geographical targeting with TIGER data, drop-shipping, delivery point validation, pallet mail preparation and mail.dat support and electronic data interchange.
