25 Feb MG&E Upgrades Mapping Application
Madison, Wis. — Madison Gas and Electric (MG&E) awarded Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions a contract Tuesday to upgrade its existing FRAMME-based AM/FM/GIS application to G/Technology, Intergraph’s geofacilities management solution. The initial deployment is scheduled for May.
G/Technology will provide MG&E core-enabling technology for a geospatial resource management (GRM) environment and includes solutions designed to streamline everyday activities and processes that maintain the utility’s service-delivery network. Based on standard, non-proprietary programming tools, G/Technology represents commercial off-the-shelf software. These characteristics are designed to facilitate systems integration and allow for application extensions, easy maintenance and upgrades.
The open architecture of G/Technology and its ability to provide accurate, up-to-date information in a geospatially enabled data warehouse will allow MG&E’s workforce to easily leverage and share data.
“G/Technology is a proven, enabling cornerstone for geospatial resource management and will support Madison Gas and Electric’s goal of achieving up-to-date information access between corporate systems and employees who must make timely and well-informed decisions,” said Arthur Spencer, executive vice president of Geospatial Solutions, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions.
MG&E distributes energy to approximately 132,000 electric customers and 129,000 gas customers in Wisconsin.
