18 Feb Bone Care Names New Chairman
Middleton, Wis. — Bone Care International, Inc. announced Tuesday Herbert Conrad as chairman of the board of directors, replacing founder Richard Mazess. Mazess will remain on the board of directors.
Conrad is former president of the U.S. Pharmaceuticals Division of Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc. He served as the chairman of the board of directors of GenVec, Inc. from 1996 to 2003, and was a co-founder of Reliant Pharmaceuticals in addition to serving on the boards of numerous professional associations and corporations.
“Herb brings more than 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as an entrepreneur, senior executive and board member. He is joining the Board at an important time in the growth of the Company as we continue to build a strong commercial organization and expand the reach of our products in the marketplace,” said Paul Berns, president and chief executive officer of Bone Care International.
Bone Care International is a pharmaceutical company engaged in discovering, developing and commercializing improved vitamin D-hormone therapies to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with kidney (renal) disease, osteoporosis and psoriasis.
