Inacom Supports Blackhawk Technology Mentor Program

Madison, Wis. — Inacom Information Systems employees will be participating for the second year in a technology mentor program for network management students at Blackhawk Technical College, located in Janesville, Wis. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive experience for students as they research a specific technological topic, gain hands-on experience and present their technology business solutions to local businesses.
As part of the program, 16 students will supply participating companies with recommendations and project plans for an intrusion detection system for two medium-sized networks, a backup and recovery system in a medium-sized network, a Linux clustering and Linux on the desktop conversion and a Novell 5.1 server migration. Inacom will provide four engineers to consult with and aid in the students throughout the project by providing facts, technical support and feedback on how to present the information.
“These research projects will allow students to apply technology based solutions that help companies meet goals such as increasing productivity, increasing revenue and decreasing costs,” said Craig Heilman, Inacom’s executive vice president of professional services.
Inacom has a history of community service in Wisconsin. The company was recognized last June for its pilot project in collaboration with the Dane County Area Youth Apprenticeship Program which provides information technology training, teaching and on-the-job training to high-school students from Sun Prairie, Waunakee, Madison East and Monona Grove.
