Alfalight awarded $1.7M from Army Research Lab

Madison, Wis. - Alfalight, a manufacturer of high-power diode lasers, has been awarded a research and development contract worth $1.7 million from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory.

With the funding, Alfalight will develop pump modules suitable for pumping high-power, fiber-laser systems, developed in conjunction with the research lab, for defense applications and new commercial products.

Manoj Kanskar, vice president of research and development of Alfalight, said the award will “drive” Alfalight to provide improved spatial brightness and usable pump prototypes.

In addition to U.S. defense applications, Alfalight's diode lasers are used in industrial and telecommunications markets worldwide.
