Survey company sells Wisconsin GIS piece

Waukesha, Wis. - Analytical Surveys, Inc. of San Antonio has sold the assets of a Wisconsin Geographic Information Systems office to RAMTeCH, a New Delhi-based information technology outsourcing firm.

According to Lori Jones, CEO of the Texas company, the transaction will keep intact GIS expertise and capability that exists in its former Waukesha office, and it enables RAMTeCH to retain the 20 people who are employed there.

As part of the deal, ASI will transfer several ongoing GIS service contracts and the equipment used by the Wisconsin operation.

"They [RAMTeCH] need those people in order to fulfill their contractual obligations," Jones said. "In fact, they plan on growing that operation."

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Jones said the sale is an opportunity for ASI to reduce its operating costs and focus on the energy piece of its business. The company counts among its assets existing contracts with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority and Utility Pole Technologies.

RAMTeCH employs more than 1,200 people, and in addition to its New Delhi headquarters, it also has offices in New Jersey and Florida. Manish Sanwalka, president of RAMTeCH, said the acquisition adds on-shore capabilities to its suite of services for the utilities and telecommunications industries.

He said the company has been providing services as a subcontractor on the contacts that are being transferred, and it expects a seamless transition.
