Three firms get state tech development grants

Madison, Wis. -- Three Wisconsin businesses will receive funding for technology development projects from the state Department of Commerce Technology Assistance Grant (TAG) and Technology Venture Fund (TVF) Programs.

The projects are as follows:

¥ SonoPlot, Inc. is a Madison company established in 2003 to develop nanotechnology tools. It will receive a $100,000 TVF loan to purchase equipment and develop a prototype.

¥ New Type Milking System, LLC, Hortonville, was established in 2005 to develop and market a new milking machine technology. It will receive a $4,200 TAG to hire professional grant writing assistance for a SBIR Phase I application.

¥ Temporary Cooling Equipment, Inc. is a Stoughton start-up company that will develop portable high-efficiency refrigeration units. It will receive a $5,000 TAG to hire professional grant research and writing assistance.

The TVF program provides low-interest loans to Wisconsin high-tech companies with fewer than 100 employees that are seeking angel or other seed capital investment to facilitate the capital search.
