SBC Foundation awards technology grants in Wisconsin

SBC Communications Inc., through its non-profit arm the SBC Foundation, has given $285,500 in technology-related grants to Wisconsin non-profits, the Business Journal of Milwaukee has reported.

Twenty-four organizations that provide social services to at-risk youth and underserved populations received money to help them use more technology. The grants were part of SBC's Excelerator program, which typically gives from $2,500 to $25,000 per organization.

Ten of the 24 grants, totalling $145,360, were to Milwaukee-area groups.

SBC Communications is a telecommunications company operating in Wisconsin and 12 other states and headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.

Dear SBC Foundation -
I am interested in whether any of the 24 grants were awarded to recipients in the Northeastern area of the State of Wisconsin in 2004 or 2005? You mentioned that 10 were for Milwaukee, what was the beakdown of the other 14?
