UW-Eau Claire receives $35,000 remodeling gift

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — S&C Bank-Eau Claire has made a gift of $35,000 to fund the remodeling of the entryway of Schneider Social Science Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, which houses the College of Business.

The S&C Bank gift to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation is recognized as a contribution to Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence, the foundation's ongoing campaign for the university's people and programs.

"We are thrilled by this new partnership between S&C Bank and the university," said Carole Halberg, UW-Eau Claire Foundation president. "We're grateful for this gift, which will help transform an underused area into an inviting space for the many students, faculty and community members who frequent our College of Business facility."

S&C Bank's gift is an investment in the future of the region, said John Doar, chairman of the board of S&C Banco Inc. "What can one say about the future of the Chippewa and St. Croix valleys?" Doar said. "With the caliber of business education offered at UW-Eau Claire, the future of the valleys is bright."

The remodeled Schneider Hall entryway will be named the S&C Bank Information Lounge. The remodeling project will transform the entryway, which has not been redone since the building was built in 1967, into "an inviting space where people can access data on their laptops, wait for appointments, talk with friends or study for exams," said Gretchen Hutterli, assistant dean for external affairs in the College of Business.

The project will include the installation of an electronic ticker that will broadcast the latest campus, financial and world news. "It will be an area that people will want to work and relax in between classes," said Dale Johnson, associate dean in the College of Business. "We're very grateful to S&C Bank for its wonderful gift. The lobby's updated appearance will be a credit to S&C and will make the area a more welcoming environment for students and the many visitors who come to our building for a variety of activities and functions."
